Each course offers a unique experience for all levels of golfers.
At a 30-minute drive from downtown Atlanta, these picturesque courses are convenient to those inside and outside the perimeter
1) Lakemont Course at Stone Mountain Golf Club
The Lakemont Course offers some premier golf experiences. It sits at the foothills of Stone Mountain and has exquisite views of Stone Mountain and the surrounding lake.
The course was the project of Georgia native John LaFoy. It features dramatic elevation changes and dramatic bunkering.
2) Stonemont Course at Stone Mountain Golf Club
Fairways of premier Bermuda grass highlight the classic challenge that is Stonemont Course. Renowned Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed this 18-hole golf course with close attention to detail. Today, the course is still a highly sought golf location.
Numerous professional events are held alongside the greens of immaculate bent grass. These include both professional and amateur championship games.
Lakemont Course vs Stonemont Course: Some Key Differences
The Lakemont Course complements Stonemont in two main ways. First, it’s a bit less challenging and more beginner friendly. The course is a par 71 and 6,444 yards. Stonemont is par 70 and 6,863 yards.
However, keep in mind that Lakemont’s slope rating is 134 compared to Stonemont’s 132.
Second, the layout and design reflect the unique personalities of each course. Lakemont wraps around Stone Mountain Lake and highlights the water element. Ten holes incorporate water into play.
Stonemont is more a traditional Georgia challenge with its narrow fairways sandwiched between numerous stands of Georgia pines. And at 6,863 yards, it is the longest course of the five listed here.

3. Mystery Valley Golf Club
Mystery Valley Golf Course is 5-miles from Stone Mountain Park in Lithonia, GA. The pristine beauty of Georgia nature is on full display here. The numerous stands of Georgia pines run alongside the narrow fairways.
And while the course is friendly at a slope rating of 125, this par 72 still provides a good challenge to its players. The golf course architect was Dick Wilson.
4. Smoke Rise Country Club
Smoke Rise Golf Course has some of the best views of the greater Atlanta area! Gary Roger Baird designed the course.
The area is heavily wooded and boasts thick Georgia pines and clear streams throughout. The slope rating is 140 and the highest of the five listed here.
