Best Chinese Food in Augusta, GA

Sesame chicken, rice, and a side of eggrolls will never stop trending in my book. Chinese takeout menus do not often vary but provide those seemingly endless options and variations. (If you are interested in the history of Chinese food in America, there are some book, podcast, and recipe recommendations below worth exploring.)
1. China Restaurant
If you have to stop in at the Richmond County Tag Office, you may want to pop in for the large sesame chicken with white rice next door at China Restaurant. Of the 50+ times I have ordered here, I can only recount one time where I had any issue with the order; the food is consistently delicious.

2. Hunan Cafe
Hunan Cafe offers at once a more expansive and pared down menu. It offers a spin on the staples of American Chinese food, including General Tsos Chicken, Beef Broccoli, and Lomein Noodles. However, it also provides dishes inspired by Thai, Malaysian, Korean, and Japanese cooking. The Malaysian Sweet & Sour Pork is excellent, and Hunan has an expansive selection of Tofu plates and other vegetarian entrees.
But if you are interested in local Korean food, hold up for a second. I wrote an article all about the best BBQ spots in the Augusta that includes more on a Korean Restaurant and BBQ spot.
Pro Tips: Four important ones.
- Great choice for those with children, as there is an affordable kid’s menu.
- Hours: They are closed between 2:30 – 4:00 PM.
- There is a menu and price change after 6:00 PM. So, if you want a cheaper meal, order at lunch from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM, or during the early bird special from 4:00 to6:00 PM.
- Hunan Cafe has a long history in Augusta. Founded in 1996, it is family owned and operated.
2. Main China
Main China‘s main selling point for me has always been its generous portions, along with consistency. Don’t let the location be a sticking point. Their lunch specials run for about $6 too.
If you are up in the suburbs of Evans, Georgia, or headed out to Lincolnton or Appling, this spot shares a building with the Circle-K Gas Station right before you pass Walmart on the righthand-side.
4. Fuji Asian

Similar to Hunan Cafe in Martinez, Fuji Asian restaurant offers a menu that includes more than the staple American Chinese dishes. Their Pad Thai is among the best in the area, along with the Honey Chicken. So, if you are at the Georgia Department of Driver Services, walk around the corner to give it a try.

Pro Tips:
- Fuji Asian serves alcohol.
- They have a kid’s menu that runs from $3 to $7.25.
- Space: They have the more tables and space for indoor dining than any other spot on this list.
- Try the Thai Summer Rolls.
5. Happy Garden
If you work in the Medical District, this is a convenient spot for American Chinese food. Relatively new, Happy Garden offers plenty of indoor seating for those looking to dine-in and some great teriyaki sticks. If you’re curious about what other teriyaki and hibachi options are in town, hold up for just one second. You may want to read this article on the 6 top hibachi spots in Augusta.
Pro Tip: Right behind Burger King and Family Dollar off Walton Way.
6. Panda Express

For Orange Chicken, Panda Express at the Augusta Exchange never disappoints and is a convenient stop if you are already shopping at Target or coming from a movie at the Regal Augusta Exchange theater.
There is also a second location out in Evans, which is also convenient to the Evans’ Target.
7. House of Chan
House of Chan is convenient Chinese restaurant for those located in North Augusta and the Belvedere area! From the half a dozen times I’ve ordered takeout, the food has been consistently delicious and service was prompt!
