1. Putt Putt Fun Center
Putt Putt has been a family favorite in Augusta for decades! They have mini golf, aquatic bumper boats, batting cages, an arcade, laser tag, and bumper cars. Even older kids won’t be “too cool†for this place!

2. Bowlero Bowling Alley
Formerly called Brunswick, Bowlero Bowling Alley is another Augusta classic. They have bowling and an arcade for the kids.
A sports bar is there for the adults too!
Kids love the blackout lights in the bowling alley. There are bumper pads for the younger or more inexperienced bowlers.

3. Savannah River Kayak Rentals
Savannah River Kayak Rentals is a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of Augusta on:
- the Augusta Canal
- Stalling’s Island
- or the Savannah River
Take a look at the “Rates & Routes†page to see which is best for you and your family. There is no minimum age requirement.
But the two-person kayak is a great option for younger participants, so they can ride with an adult.
4. Hilltop Stables

Hilltop Riding Stables is located on Fort Gordon and offers horseback riding for kids of all ages! There are guided rides for older children.
Pony Rides: Availalbe to kids younger than 6 or below 45 lbs. Parents get to lead the pony while their child takes a fun ride!
Lessons. Hilltop Stables offers lessons for beginners through advanced riders.
Summer Camps. Summer and holiday camps are available for kids at Hilltop Stables. Take a look at their calendar of events on their website to learn more.
Make sure you have closed-toe shoes or cowboy boots when you go riding as well.
5. Defy Trampoline Park
Defy Trampoline Park is the perfect place to take your little jumping beans when they need to get some energy out!
They have:
- an open jump area
- a ninja course that will test their agility
- high end air track that’s great for practicing gymnastics flips
- a trapeze and aerial skills area

6. Active Climbing & Ninja Center
Active Climbing & Ninja Center offers bouldering and indoor rock climbing. There are also climbing lessons for people of all ages, including kids!
Their party room is a great place to introduce kids to climbing. This room has shorter climbing walls and a beginner-level bouldering cave.

7. Columbia County Library
A love of books and reading is great to encourage in kids! And Columbia County Library has over 95,000 adult books and 58,000 children’s books!
The outdoor facility is also spacious and has:
- a performing arts center
- outdoor amphitheater
- three playgrounds, and a splash pad.
Spend some time reading and checking out books inside the library. Then, let the kids get their energy out on the playground!

8. Appleby Library
Applebee Library is a great option for folks wanting to explore the libraries in Richmond County. Located in Summerville Historic District, this library was once a residence and is known for its stately presence on Walton Way.

9. Augusta Canal Discovery Center
The Augusta Canal Discovery Center is a great place for kids to learn about this regional landmark in a hands-on and engaging setting.
The story of the Augusta Canal includes history, science, and physics lessons. It also gives kids a tangible way to explore these subjects.

10. The Augusta Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Savannah River and learn about Augusta’s history and culture at the same time!
Read the plaques along the path and be sure to stop into the Morris Museum of Art and the Augusta History Museum, which are on either side of the Riverwalk!

11. Phinizy Swamp


Phinizy Swamp’s mission is to provide environmental education to this generation and the next.
While taking one of the park’s guided hikes, families can learn together about the flora and fauna of the swamp and how important a clean water supply is to a healthy ecosystem.

12. Mastermind Escape Rooms
Mastermind Escape Rooms is great for building teamwork and critical thinking skills! You’ll also have fun!
Participants are locked in a room for an hour and must work together to find a way to escape. Choose from these scenarios and more at the Augusta location:

13. Imagination Station
Imagination Station is an interactive children’s museum located inside Hickman Park. This is a great spot for younger kids, from babies up through elementary school age.
Exhibits include the Sensorimotor Corner, the Science Corner, the Art studio, and more! Most of the exhibits are indoors, but you could also spend time exploring the park as well!

14. Augusta Jr. Players – Imperial Theater
Going to see a show by the Augusta Junior Players at the Imperial Theater is a great way to introduce children to live theater.
The majority of the cast of the productions are kids. Not only are the shows age-appropriate, but they also may help your child discover an activity they would like to participate in as they get older!

15. Riverwatch Cinemas
Riverwatch Cinemas is one of the most popular movie theaters in the area and was the first to have reclining seats! It’s my personal favorite in the areas, too.
Located near both Top Golf and Dave & Busters, this is a convenient area to spend a whole day!

16. Stars & Strikes
Stars & Strikes was voted the 2019 Best Family Entertainment Venue in Augusta by the Augusta Chronicle. It has:
- over 20 bowling lanes
- an arcade
- a prize store (to exchange those tickets you won)
- laser tag arena
- and bumper cars.
