With over a dozen classic cookie options, Lil’ Dutch Bakery has been a staple of mine for over a decade. In addition to their delicious cookies, they offer an assortment of cakes, brownies, lemon bars, pies, and bread. And if you need a casserole for dinner later in the week, you can pick that up here too.
Why Go Here: Low prices and excellent quality keep me returning. You can buy an individual cookie for $1.50 or a dozen at $13.50. Also, try the Red Velvet Cake for birthdays.

Two Mom’s Kitchen popped onto the Augusta dessert radar about six years ago. According to their FaceBook page:

Why Go Here: In addition to their eleven standard cookies, Two Mom’s Cookies provides customers with custom cookie orders. With 180+ designs to inspire, you should be able to customize til your hearts content. Also, they have a broad selection of casseroles and cakes.

Edgar’s Bakehouse (Augusta)


Formerly known as Higher Grounds Cafe, the shop was recently rebranded as Edgar’s Bakehouse under Michael Romano, Executive Pastry Chef for Edgar’s Hospitality Group. Chef Romano hails from New York City and has won multiple competitions on the Food Network.
“Edgar’s Bakehouse was founded in an attempt to bring authentic French-style pastries to Augusta. Our menu includes a wide range of coffee, artisanal loaves of bread, pastries and sandwiches. Everything is made from scratch in-house and with the highest attention to detail.”

It is part of Edgar’s Hospitality Group, which, in the Augusta-area, includes Edgar’s Grille, Edgar’s Above Broad, the Pinnacle Club, Snelling Conference Center and Edgar’s Catering.
Why Go Here: In addition to six scrumptious cookies, Edgar’s Bakehouse offers an assortment of French pastries and freshly baked bread. The chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies were worth the visit this morning.

Why Go Here: Delightful Bites Bakery has catered for many local events I’ve attended, and the food has always been outstanding (especially the wedding cakes). They offer five different types of cookies, with a host of cupcakes and cakes as well.
Cookie Menu Here: Options Include: peanut butter, English toffee, white chocolate cherry, chocolate chip pecan, chocolate chip, and custom requests.
Ms. Stugie’s Cookie Shoppe (Augusta)
Founded in 2016 by Jessica J. Owens, Ms. Stugie’s Cookie Shoppe has 21 cookie options ranging from blue velvet to pumpkin spice.
Why Go Here: Simply put, Ms. Stugie’s Cookie Shoppe offers some of the greatest cookie variety in the area. From the “Violet you are turning VIOLET” to “You are a Mean One” Cookie, the names and designs are creative and fun, with seasonal choices to look forward to.
The extra detailed and logo/photo cookies are especially unique and would be an excellent choice for large-scale or corporate events.

The Boll Weevil Cafe & Sweetery (Downtown Augusta / Riverwalk)
Why Go Here: While The Boll Weevil Cafe & Sweetery does not sell cookies, they have some of the best cake in the greater Augusta area. As a sandwich, salad, and soup spot, it is ideal for lunches or dinners with quick access to the Riverwalk. The cake slices are enough for two, so keep that in mind when making your selection. You cannot go wrong with the Banana Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, or Coffee Toffee. I’ve been enjoying those three choices for years on special occasions and will continue to do so.

Why Go Here: Because two-dozen chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal raisin, and/or peanut butter cookies are only $3.99 at Publix (half that if you catch them on a BOGO sale day). I bake and cook a lot, but have yet to produce a cookie that beats these, both in tastiness and pricing.
